flow

Sometimes the liquid flows effortlessly like coffee from the pot to the mug. At other times, the liquid moves slowly like the syrup from the jar to the waiting pancake. I personally prefer the effortless flow, but syrup has its place as well. For the PD challenged among us, some days flow smoothly whereas others seem to hang on every little drip. There is no accounting for the surprise that awaits the vessel each day. Exercise, a healthy balance in diet, and attention to medications intended to release endogenous dopamine, each ups the ante that movement will smoothly flow, but the naughty intruder seems to have a mind of his own. An occasional under breath curse at the resistant member prompts the old memory to find a space for gratitude that movement is possible at all. Even the syrup adds sweetness to the flavor of the meal! Thankfulness for the fast and the slow adds richness to life’s feast.
